What is the difference between ethanol gases and no ethanol? ?
Almost all gasoline today contains 15% ethanol, an alcohol made by fermentation of corn. It does burn cleaner but it gives much less mileage per gallon. We have found about 12% less mileage. Corn is not environmentally friendly to grow. It takes a lot out of the soil, needs much fertilization and use of tractors using oil. The mixture does not stay mixed well and has to be mixed at the end of the pipeline near the stations. The alcohol dissolves water and causes rusting problems, it also has been shown to have a dissolving effect on fibergl tanks, and rubber gaskets. It also tends to clean out old tanks and then leave the sludge in filters.
