Why is food so expensive???????

i went into mcdonalds and ordered a 5 piece chicken select meal and it was like a lil over $8!! and i paid $1.75 for a 2.0 oz bag of pretzels and a 10 oz bottle of minite maid oj! why is food so much money!!?!?!?!
