New to NFL and Madden 09, question about standings?

I'm playing Madden 09 and I got drafted for the Falcons in superstar mode. Just wondering why when we've won 3 and lost 2 and the Seahawks and 49ers are 2-2 and the Bears and Redskins are 2-3...why are they all above me in the standings? How do the standings work? Thanks
