Could this be the right answer for 98 plymouth voyager?

took a long trip to beach everything ran great until the last 2 hrs coming home.on the interstate my van started sputtering for about 10 seconds then stopped,back to normal,made a stop 45 miles later,then started sputtering around the rest the way home,got it home shut it off,next day wont start unless its in nuetral,this is a 4 speed automatic,3.3l motor,thought it was trany problem but this was rebuilt less than a year ago,could this be the neutral safety swith????
